Hard Times

the breaths that form this solitary life

I've been listening to this bob dylan song and I just think the lyrics are so beautiful.  Hard times are inevitable but it is so crucial that we don't let them hover around our homes and lives.  There is so much to this beautiful life we live....it is hard it is the "song, the sigh of the weary.."  yet wow...we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses.

1.  Let us pause in life's pleasures and count its many tears
While we all sup sorrow with the poor.
There's a song that will linger forever in our ears,
Oh, hard times, come again no more.
'Tis the song, the sigh of the weary.
Hard times, hard times, come again no more.
Many days you have lingered all around my cabin door.
Oh, hard times, come again no more.

2. While we seek mirth and beauty and music light and gay.
There are frail forms fainting at the door.
Though their voices are silent, their pleading looks will say.
Oh, hard times, come again no more.
'Tis the song, the sigh of the weary.
Hard times, hard times, come again no more.
Many days you have lingered all around my cabin door.
Oh, hard times, come again no more.

3. There's pale drooping maiden who foils her life away
With a worn out heart, whose better days are o'er.
Though her voice it would be merry, 'tis sighing all the day,
Oh, hard times, come again no more.
'Tis the song, the sigh of the weary.
Hard times, hard times, come again no more.
Many days you have lingered all around my cabin door.
Oh, hard times, come again no more.

'Tis the song, the sigh of the weary.
Hard times, hard times, come again no more.
Many days you have lingered all around my cabin door.
Oh, hard times, come again no more.

so i've been reading the Psalms quite a bit lately and I'm convinced that the Psalmists' form reflects life and human nature....they write, speaking, complaining, begging and the out of no where burst into exuberant praise...and then move back into their speaking, complaining, and begging.

as life moves on...it stinks occasionally, other times it is tedious, other times it's needy, never bad, just more difficult, more in need of a Savior...and then there are those moments thrown in where your heart is just like....what the heck!  there's God!....I find that comforting....I like life
